I created (from scratch) 3 scarecrows for the Scarecrow Stomp this year. A Spirit Miner for the Friends of the Dahlonega Gold Museum and a pair of square dancers for Gold Country Squares!

Coming soon to Dahlonega- a NEW Ghost tour by the Friends of the Dahlonega Gold Museum! Proceeds ALL go to the museum!
I love mushrooms! From the ones I can eat to the ones to just admire- fungi are amazing. Here on my own land I pick 3 types of mushrooms. I know and recognize them easily so I don't worry about poisoning myself. Right now it is the fabulous gold Chanterelle mushroom that is available. My mom calls them 'egg-mushrooms' at least that is what it is when I translate it.
Sometimes I get asked to 're-make' something that has become threadbare of a few years of use. This wreaths are one such item. The originals had no rhyme or reason to the flowers and many were missing in action (poor souls). And the original ribbons wear long faded to pastels. The flowers probably originally had a pattern- but over the years of being yanked off (and put back) they looked a bit rough. 24 extra flowers and new bows went into each. This picture is the result. Now they are ready to come on out again for every patriotic holiday. I would of loved to make the pattern a bit more even- but the flowers I did have just wouldn't 'fit'. I bet the Stargate fans out there would like to own a handcrafted gate pendant! I've been creating the SG1 Stargate for a few years now and customers often request the gates from Atlantis or Universe. The other gates were always a special order- but no longer! Now you can CHOOSE SG1's gate or ATLANTIS gate right in my stores. How cool is that? I've made a number of custom gardening aprons over the past few months for some lovely local ladies. Created from upcycled jeans and some gorgeous fabrics these aprons are made to suit the individual lady. The customer gets to choose their favorite flower, insect, and color- I do the rest. This apron has frogs, ox eye daisies, lady beetles, and a butterfly. The 'pots' are actually 3 pockets for tools, seeds, or anything else a gardener would like to put in them. Sometimes I get a really interesting custom order. This one was a surprise. Most people like the 'mainstream' monsters from BBC's Doctor Who and look for Daleks, weeping angels, cybermen, or even oods. However some folks just fall in love with one of the more obscure 'creatures'. This one is based on the Toclafane- a 'race' controlled by the MASTER. They were once human- but no longer- now they are a 'head' inside a metal sphere. EEK! Mine don't have a head in them- just lots of fiberfill. This area just can't handle snow & ice- but it sure is pretty. I just finished this wonderful World of Warcraft inspired box as a custom order. I am not sharing the inside until the customer receives the box- but I will tell you that the inside has black marble and a name in Warcraft font. The box did not come with a locking hasp- that was a separate purchase that I antiqued to match. I love this box! I know that most people think of square dancing as an old-fashioned, country type of entertainment- but that leaves a great deal of information out! I'll admit that I first danced as a child and 'graduated' as a full fledged square dancer when I was a pre-teen. I loved it then- and guess what? That has not changed over the years. It is still fun, the people still joke around, and the friendships that form are strong & true. I 'relearned' the basics and mainstream at the end of 2013 and joined the local club GOLD COUNTRY SQUARES. Loving the dancing and being comfortable with the club allowed me to give my talents to them- and they, in turn, gave me an officer position in the club (after being an official member for only 4 days). So without further ado- here is a picture! Now what may be of more interest to the wonderful visitors to this site is that my sewing talents have been used a great deal already for dancing. The blue outfit is not sewn by me- but the overlay on the skirt is my creation. The red outfit in the next picture is a made from scratch. The shirts too, were created by me- and I have more to show- but that is for later! There are times when one gets to create something in a giant size. This year I had a request of a large version of my R2-D2 Santa hat. Take a look at what an oversized hat looks like! Who wears such a large hat? A life-sized R2-D2 of course!
