Had some fun with this Sugar Skull and bustle dress!
Don Carter State Park is only about 27 miles from home and I volunteer there for special events. This time I face painted for their Halloween Bash.
Painted over about a week this Potions Classroom backdrop is a real stunner! Just check out all the amazing details in the room. From tiny potions to the slate floor- there is a ton to discover.
Now why did I do this? Oh yeah... The 68th Annual Square Dance Convention will be next year in Atlanta and I am in charge of decorating the Youth Room. Any guesses on the theme? The proper theme is 'Georgia is Magic' but the kids (and adults) all will spot a bunch of Harry Potter themes in the room.
Our beautiful town of Dahlonega has its' Old Jail open only a few times a year. Of course I mean the 1884 jail- where the sheriff and his family lived downstairs while the prisoners stayed in the cells upstairs. The Lumpkin County Historical Society uses it as its' home and opens it up to the public for tours when possible. I love to volunteer for those times- but all dressed up of course.
Here we go- the new dress that thrilled around 400 people this past 4th of July!
I was asked to provide a 'door prize' for the upcoming 2019 68th Annual National Square Dance Convention that will be held in Atlanta. Our group the Gold Country Squares is small, but tightly involved with the upcoming convention. Here is the quilt I created for it!
Once I finished that quilt I realized that our club could raffle off a similar quilt as a fundraiser. So I hit the sewing machine again and made this one!
We have left the local market. Their idea is great- but the location just did not work out for us.
Now you can buy our great hand crafted FANDOM items in Dahlongea at:

Just finished! I have 3 new items you can get in my Zibbet store! These wonderful newly designed fleece critters. I've created a little bear, bunny, and kitty that YOU can get with a name, short phrase, date, or even a location embroidered on it. As you can see from the examples I have our home town on the tummy of the fleece animals. They have no parts a child can swallow and are WASHABLE! GET THEM HERE: enchantedcraft.zibbet.com/personalized-handmade-fleece-animal-in-your-choice-of-colors-choose-bear-kitty-bunny
Coming soon to my shop- fleece stuffed animals with your choice of names embroidered on the tummy!
I received an inexpensive embroidery machine for Christmas and got busy right away making designs that I don't see often (or at all). Square Dance, Round Dance, Firefly, Stargate, a Tardis- the fun goes on and on!
It is time to fill up the Friends Corner at the Dahlonega Gold Museum Historic Site. A popular item (which surprised me) is bonnets from the 1800's. Actually some of the bonnets are in period correct fabrics and others are not. I donate the time it takes to make them. These are my 'simple' bonnet based on bonnets found in Dahlonega during the time. I make more elaborate ones to order.
This year I decided to have a bit of a laugh with my Halloween Costume. Since I give the Haunted Dahlonega Tours for the Dahlonega Gold Museum for September & October I already have a number of wonderful period costumes.
I thought it would be funny to depict 'Miss Kitty' who owns the 'Wild Cat Saloon' down in 'Knucklesville' as a cat. The saloon girl outfit would be from anywhere in the USA during 1850-1900. Wow what a huge time period. So why so long? Well- that is because the fun dance the 'Can Can' began in the 1840's and was the hot fun dance until about 1900. Oddly the 'Can Can' began as a guy's dance- not a girls! Anyway without further ado...
My musings wander from earth to sky.
